The computer

　　  The computer is a very wonderful machine and it is a very lovely and popular tool of the people. The computer is one of the great technical inventions in the world in the twentieth century. It works for us not only at homes, in offices, in factories, in big shops but also at schools. Today it is used a great deal in many ways. It really brings people the largest wealth and happiness.

　　The first computer in the world was named Eniac. It was built in America in 1946.

　　It is not only large but also heavy. Though it was born about 50 years ago, its techniques are being steadily improved. Its development is very fast. Until now it has gone through four periods and changed a lot. There are many kinds of computers. Computers are getting smaller and smaller, lighter and lighter and computing faster and faster. It becomes more and more advanced.

　　  The computer can do most of the things that people used to do. It can help us to learn about the real world more quickly, to learn what we want to learn and to think for ourselves. It also helps the doctor to get information and reasons about different illnesses quickly and make the best decision to treat the patient. It has a lot of uses. As a student in the twenty-first century, you must work hard at the computer and master it well.

Internet and my life

　　Last year, I had to move to a new place where now I am living in. It was very far from my city and where I had no TV to watch, no film to see and no library to read a book. I had nothing but some dull work to do. Life then to me was like a desert.

　　However, to my great surprise, I found a web bar, which was very far from the place I live in. I entered the bar that day. It was from then on that I began to immerse myself into Internet.

　　When I first came into the bar, I didn't know how to access the Internet. With the help of others, I opened a homepage only to find it was full of colorful and rich contents. How interesting it was！Clicking the mouse, I set up my own email address under the guidance. I read sports news, entertainment news and all kinds of much other information.

　　I was becoming happier and happier. On holidays I sent e-cards to my friends to express my greeting and my congratulations. I also bought several books through e-business and ordered free e-magazines, which were of much help to my study.

　　Hearing that it is very efficient to find a job on Internet, I am ready to have a try.

I was and am being benefited from Internet, which makes my life brighter and brighter. With the company of Internet, I will never feel idle any more.

Computer and Network

　　A computer is an electronic machine that can store and work with large quantities of information. Computers can do hard mathematical problem fast, can retrieve（检索） information quickly, and can help a person work with words and pictures.

　　Using only the computer in your home and a few pieces of software, what you can do is limited. Network lets you keep in touch with people you know and meet hundreds of people you didn't know before. It can transform a small tool into a treasure house of tools for hundreds of uses.
